🇧🇷 Fuerza Aérea (Operação Prato)
In June 1969, a Brazilian police officer named Bento Durão de Barros reported a UFO sighting in Niterói. The incident occurred near the third police station, in an area with high-tension towers and dense vegetation. The observer described a yellow, luminous object rotating on its axis, producing a sharp sound. The UFO moved quickly toward the Agriculture Secretariat before disappearing. Although the report includes a newspaper clipping, there were no photographs of the event. The officer confirmed he was not under the influence of alcohol or tired, adding credibility to his testimony.
The detailed report from the Brazilian Air Force includes data on the location, weather conditions, and technical descriptions of the phenomenon. The UFO was observed by two people, and although there were no effects on electronic equipment or animal reactions, the official testimony reflects a meticulous account of the event. This case, part of the SIOANI archive, shows how Brazilian authorities documented unidentified aerial phenomena formally during the 1960s.
