Summary

In November 1975, the National Military Command Center in Washington received a report on an unidentified aerial phenomenon. At 2:53 AM, Malmstrom Air Force Base in Montana detected seven radar contacts at altitudes between 9,500 and 15,500 feet. At the same time, ground witnesses observed lights in the sky and sounds similar to jet engines. Radar confirmed the presence of objects moving at 7 knots over Lewistown, Montana. Two F-106 interceptors were scrambled, but could not intercept the objects due to mountainous terrain. The objects increased speed to 150 knots and disappeared from radar, leaving investigators without a clear explanation.

The report highlighted the inability to identify the objects, as there were no commercial or military aircraft in the area. Additionally, witnesses at several Air Force bases reported lights accompanied by engine sounds, suggesting something beyond a natural phenomenon. The lack of a clear response and the inability to intercept the objects generated an atmosphere of mystery and concern among military authorities.
