UFO SIGHTINGS IN RECIFE IN 1979

Summary

In June 1979, in the city of Recife, Brazil, several sightings of unidentified flying objects (UFOs) were reported, causing concern and curiosity among the local population. According to declassified documents from the Brazilian Ministry of Aeronautics, reports described white and blue lights, as well as box-shaped objects emitting flashes and moving silently. These phenomena were reported by farmers, officials, and even a military commander, who did not rule out the possibility of an unidentified object. The reports were compiled and sent to the COMGAR, the commission responsible for investigating unconventional aerial phenomena.

In addition to sightings in Recife, reports were also recorded in other parts of the country, such as in the state of Rio Grande do Norte, where witnesses claimed to have seen luminous objects emitting strange sounds and moving at unusual speeds. On one occasion, a jeep carrying two brothers was chased by an object flying at low altitude, causing panic. These events, although lacking a clear explanation, were documented by local authorities and analyzed by UFO experts. Despite investigations, the motives of the UFOs remain a mystery.
