🇧🇷 Fuerza Aérea (Operação Prato)
In February 1958, Brazilian congressman Sergio Magalhães formally requested information from the Ministry of the Navy regarding a "flying disc" sighting on Trindade Island. The case gained attention because multiple members of the Almirante Saldanha, a training ship, reportedly observed the object, and the Ministry officially acknowledged the existence of photographs taken during the event. However, no official statements or investigations were conducted, raising questions about the lack of action. Magalhães' request aimed to clarify whether technical analyses of the images had been carried out and why the incident was kept secret for a month.
This was one of the first cases in Brazil where a UFO sighting was documented by military authorities and officially recognized. Despite this, the government's response was vague, generating public skepticism. The congressman's inquiry not only sought answers about the incident itself but also about the possible existence of similar sightings and the reason for official silence. The Trindade case marked a milestone in Brazil's UFO history, paving the way for future investigations and public debates about the nature of these phenomena.
