In August 1996, the city of Varginha in Minas Gerais, Brazil, became the epicenter of one of the most enigmatic UFO cases. It all began when three teenagers reported seeing a strange creature in an abandoned lot. The girls described a being with a slimy appearance, red eyes, long arms, and an overall look that generated intense panic. According to testimonies, the creature was captured by military personnel and taken to the Regional Hospital, which generated rumors and great alarm in the community.
Initial investigations, led by ufologists such as Ubirajara Franco Rodrigues and Vítorio Pacaccini, revealed contradictions between official versions and witness accounts. The Fire Department denied being contacted, but anonymous sources claimed that military and army personnel were involved in the capture. Additionally, unusual mobilization was reported in hospitals, with medical and military personnel working in secret. Despite official denials, witness testimonies and the presence of military vehicles suggest that something unusual happened.
The Varginha case remains one of the most controversial in Brazilian ufology history.
