Summary

In 1954, a 15-year-old boy in Sainte-Clotilde, near Oran (Algeria), observed an unusual aerial phenomenon. A bright orange disc suddenly appeared in the sky, descended toward the sea, stopped mid-air, and then rapidly ascended at a 45-degree angle toward the east before disappearing. The observation, reported decades later, lasted about two minutes but with vague details. Although a newspaper article mentions a fireball seen in France on August 22, 1954, researchers suggest it could explain part of the event. However, due to the lack of reliable information and the possibility of memory errors, the case was deemed unverifiable.

The GEIPAN, a French organization studying unidentified aerial phenomena, classified this case as "C"—not exploitable—due to uncertainties about the exact date, the age of the testimony, and the impossibility of verifying certain aspects. Despite the detailed description of the object, the lack of other witnesses and the possibility that part of the phenomenon was physiological (such as hallucinations) limits any conclusive analysis. Although intriguing, this case does not provide enough reliable data to be considered a verified UFO event.
