Luminous cigar-shaped object over Oye-Plage in 1954

Summary

A witness walking along national road 40 in Oye-Plage saw an opalescent light just a few meters away. He described a cigar about 8 meters long and roughly one meter in diameter, moving silently at about 30 km/h and 20 meters altitude, emitting a whitish glow that did not illuminate the houses it passed over. After disappearing around a bend, it reappeared farther ahead and veered sharply southwest, transforming into a bright yellowish sphere. No one else witnessed the phenomenon. Although the testimony appears sincere, the description could match a distant light or a conventional flying object. Classified C due to lack of additional evidence.
