Nighttime observations attributed to Venus in Côtes-d'Armor in 1994

Summary

Between 28 and 31 December 1994, four witnesses in Côtes-d'Armor reported multiple nighttime observations initially classified as unexplained. The testimonies, collected separately but grouped in a single police report, were reanalyzed by GEIPAN using newer methods.

The review distinguished three phenomena: the first, probably distant lightning seen toward the sea; two others matching the position of Venus, visible to the southeast at that time. Two additional observations lacked sufficient data for any conclusion. The case illustrates how updated analytical tools can resolve sightings that once seemed inexplicable.
