In October 1954, a family in Crepy-en-Valois observed a luminous red-orange disk for about 40 minutes. The object, described as a disk with a kind of gondola, blinked and varied in brightness. It moved slowly westward above Senlis. Although only one witness account was collected, GEIPAN investigators considered it likely to be a scientific balloon, as the sun was still illuminating high-altitude objects. The description and observation direction supported this hypothesis.
The case was classified as B by GEIPAN, indicating a probable but not certain explanation. Despite the duration and attention from witnesses, no conclusive evidence of an anomalous phenomenon was found. The classification highlights the challenge of distinguishing between common aerial objects and unexplained phenomena, especially when based on limited testimonies.
