On January 18, 2017, a witness in Saint-Ambroix observed two intermittent gray smoke trails in a clear sky from their window. The unusual nature of the traces, different from typical airplane contrails, caught their attention. The case was classified as B by the GEIPAN, suggesting a likely observation of military aircraft contrails. Although the witness reported no noise, it was considered that the planes might have flown at high altitude or that urban noise masked the sound. The reported accelerations also suggest aerial maneuvers. However, the lack of radar data prevented confirming this hypothesis with certainty.
