Green-to-red trail over Hadjout, Algeria (1957)

Summary

On 3 January 1957, three witnesses near Hadjout, Algeria, observed a luminous object with a trail that shifted from green to red as it crossed the sky from southwest to northeast over about fifteen seconds. Only one testimony was collected. GEIPAN classified the case as B, considering it most likely a meteoroid. The straight trajectory and colour change are consistent with that type of natural phenomenon.
