Summary

Around 20:20 on 24 November 1959, a witness at the commercial port of Dakar, Senegal, observed a phenomenon consisting of bright points surrounded by a halo, located to the southwest at about 15 degrees elevation. Its speed increased as the trajectory turned downward, and the halo progressively darkened until everything disappeared after five minutes. The witness noted that three ships in different positions might have seen the same thing, but only his testimony was collected. The description is reminiscent of a distant aircraft seen head-on with its lights on, though GEIPAN classified the case as C due to lack of information.
