Oval object with silhouettes near Bourget-du-Lac base (1964)

Summary

In February 1964, around 2:30 a.m., a witness returning to the Bourget-du-Lac military base noticed a faint light 200–300 metres away. Approaching, he made out five silhouettes moving around a round or oval object with a domed top and flat bottom, roughly 8–10 metres across and 2.5–3 metres tall. The object rose vertically at high speed toward the south, silently, leaving a brief trail. The next day the witness found a slight depression in the grass and nearby bushes, but no further evidence or additional witnesses were found.

The account was not submitted until 2007, decades after the alleged event. Although detailed — covering shape, dimensions, and silence during takeoff — its late submission and lack of verifiable physical evidence prevented further investigation. GEIPAN classified it as C.
