Summary

On March 19, 1967, around 11 p.m., a motorist driving near Mortemart spotted a bright object moving silently toward the southeast. He stopped for about ten minutes to watch, but shifting light intensity prevented him from identifying its shape. After resuming his drive, a reddish light appeared at low altitude behind his car, and a few kilometers later he saw an internally lit dome apparently resting on the ground. Shaken, the witness and his wife hurried home despite their son's urging to investigate.

GEIPAN classified the case as C. The account is coherent and detailed but was reported long after the event and lacks independent corroboration. The witness mentioned possible similar sightings near Guéret, which could strengthen the case if confirmed. The event coincided with the De Gaulle referendum, an interesting historical footnote that does not change the technical assessment.
