Summary

In March 1967, a driver near Mortemart, France, witnessed a strange luminous phenomenon in the sky. On the 19th at around 11:00 PM, while driving out of the village, he noticed a silent, bright object moving toward the southeast. He stopped to observe it for about ten minutes, but the changing intensity of the light made it difficult to determine its exact shape. Later, while continuing his journey, he saw a red glow at low altitude behind his car and, a few kilometers ahead, a dome-like object illuminated from within that seemed to be resting on the ground. Despite his son's insistence, the witness and his wife decided to return home quickly, deeply impressed by the event. No other witnesses or records were reported.

The GEIPAN classified this case as "C," meaning it is considered weak due to the lack of supporting evidence. Although the testimony is coherent and detailed, it was reported long after the event and stands alone. The witness mentioned the possibility of similar cases near Guéret, which could strengthen this case if confirmed. Additionally, the event occurred on the day of the referendum initiated by General de Gaulle, adding an interesting historical context. While conventional explanations are not ruled out, the case remains unusual and awaits further information.
