Summary

Sometime between late 1969 and July 1970, two people in Fort-de-France watched a white ball of light that appeared to follow an aircraft arriving from Guadeloupe. The event lasted only three to five seconds: the light, traveling at high speed in a straight line, overtook the plane and vanished westward without noticeable noise. The testimony was reported years later, and no similar sightings were found in the area or time period, making any explanation difficult. Because the exact date could not be determined, GEIPAN conventionally assigns it to January 1, 1970.
