Summary

Between 1973 and 1976, a lone witness walking along a rural road in Carcès saw a white object hovering a few meters above the ground with no engine noise. As he approached, he noticed flashes and an intense light enveloping the object, which then took off with a roar and climbed rapidly. A black mark remained on the ground but showed no signs of fire. The case reached GEIPAN in 2008 after a television broadcast. The lack of a precise date, the witness's refusal to share details about his surroundings at the time, and the 35-plus years elapsed all undermine the reliability of the account. Classified C.
