In November 1974, a driver and his passenger in Sarthe, France, observed a black tube-shaped object with three bright red areas. The object moved slowly and silently, hovering vertically before disappearing among the trees. The testimony, reported in 2008, described a several-minute experience that frightened the witnesses. Although the case was classified as category C by the GEIPAN, it was considered that the perception of a tube might have been an optical illusion caused by luminous points.
