Silvery white light over the Alps of Haute-Provence

Summary

On February 3, 1976, several witnesses in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence region saw a silvery-white light rise above a hill and gradually vanish behind the terrain. Shortly before, a sound resembling a supersonic aircraft had been heard. The gendarmerie ruled out a fire or the fall of an object after finding no traces on the ground. Lacking further data, GEIPAN classified the case as C.
