Summary

On April 1, 1976, around 5:20 PM, several people in Saint-Paul (Réunion) observed a white trail in the sky that seemed to plunge into the sea. Later, they saw a thick gray cloud of smoke that lingered over the water for about fifteen minutes before completely disappearing. The gendarmerie investigated and confirmed that no aircraft from the airport was in flight after 5:00 PM. No objects or debris were found along the coast.
