On June 6, 1976, a driver in the Yonne region observed a luminous phenomenon falling at a constant speed for a few seconds, followed by an explosion. Surprisingly, no noise was heard. The witness, thinking it might be an aircraft accident, reported it to the gendarmerie. However, the investigation found no missing aircraft or additional witnesses of the event. It was concluded that the driver likely witnessed an atmospheric entry of an object, but no further evidence was available to confirm it due to the lack of additional testimony.
