Summary

In August 1950, an officer aboard a ship in the North Atlantic reported the sighting of an unidentified airborne object. The incident occurred near Nova Scotia, when the third mate and other crew members observed an oval, cylindrical object moving at high speed and without noise. From the conning tower, the observer used binoculars and estimated the object was traveling at over 25 mph, although other crew members suggested speeds exceeding 500 mph. The object not only moved quickly but also displayed an irregular motion, as if spinning or vibrating. Its metallic and shiny appearance made it stand out in the sky, and its visible shadow on the water confirmed its presence. Despite discrepancies in estimates, all agreed the object was not conventional.

Intelligence officers interviewed the witnesses and concluded the object was not a known aircraft. Although there were differences in descriptions, the three men were clearly impressed and confused by what they saw. The incident was considered a notable case in CIA files, and the testimonies, though inconclusive, suggest something unusual happened that day in 1950. The files reflect the confusion and mystery surrounding UFO sightings, and this case is no exception.
