Oval luminous object in Saint-Geniès-des-Mourgues attributed to a helicopter

Summary

In August 1976, a witness in Saint-Geniès-des-Mourgues saw an oval luminous object with white and red lights heading northeast. It stabilized, then climbed rapidly and vanished. From about 15 meters away, the witness heard a high-pitched sound resembling an electric motor. He mentioned having seen moving lights on several occasions during that period, and the local press also reported similar observations in June and August 1976. Investigators concluded the description matched that of a helicopter and rated the case as low-strangeness with weak consistency due to the lack of independent witnesses.
