🇫🇷 GEIPAN / CNES
On August 27, 1976 at 21:16, an amateur astronomer in Forbach (France) observed a strange object in the cloudy sky. The witness described a circular craft emitting a clearly orange light from the rear. Another person confirmed the sighting, and the witness provided a detailed description, a sketch of the object, and its trajectory. The lack of additional testimonies makes it difficult to determine whether it was a conventional aerial object or something more unusual.
Although no other reports were collected, the testimony of the experienced astronomer is considered significant due to its precision. The GEIPAN classified the case as "B," indicating it was not ruled out as a natural or identifiable phenomenon. It is possible the witness observed an unidentified object, though a conventional aircraft under unusual conditions cannot be excluded. This case remains an example of how experienced observers can document phenomena that lack an immediate explanation.
