In September 1976, several witnesses in Haute-Garonne observed a silent, spherical luminous object that changed colors. The phenomenon sparked immediate curiosity and reports. However, a quick investigation revealed it was a stratospheric balloon launched by the National Center for Space Studies. The color changes were due to the diffraction of sunlight in the atmosphere, while air movements optically distorted the object's shape. Though initially puzzling, a scientific explanation clarified the mystery.
