🇫🇷 GEIPAN / CNES
At dawn one day in November 1976, a hunter in Saint-Geoirs first noticed a red light he mistook for a chimney, then a flickering light moving east to west. As it drew closer, the object changed direction and hovered about ten meters above the ground. The witness described a cylinder roughly two meters long surrounded by a flashing light. It moved silently southward, paused briefly, and vanished. The entire observation lasted eight to ten seconds.
The gendarmerie found no other witnesses or physical traces. GEIPAN considers the case weakly supported given the single observer, but acknowledges a high degree of strangeness due to the close range and detailed testimony.
