Silvery oval objects over Valbonne

Summary

In December 1976, two sightings occurred in Valbonne on consecutive days. A first witness saw a silent, silvery oval object traveling east to northwest at a speed comparable to a shooting star, leaving no luminous trail. It lasted only seconds before disappearing behind the landscape. The following day, a military observer watched a similar object for three to four minutes moving north to south at high altitude, this time leaving a luminous trail. Investigators consider it likely that both witnesses saw atmospheric entries of unidentified objects.
