Round object with rotating red lights at La Courtine

Summary

In the early hours of December 23, 1976, a soldier on guard duty in the Creuse region observed a round object flying at low altitude. It displayed bright red lights, one of which rotated on top like a beacon. The object moved slowly and emitted a continuous whistling sound. The observation lasted about thirty seconds with no other witnesses. A helicopter was considered but the testimony did not fully match a conventional aircraft.
