On June 13, 1977, around midnight, several drivers in the Jura region of France observed an unusual phenomenon: the road suddenly lit up like daylight for a few seconds. They saw a luminous ball with a trail moving from west to east, emitting sparks and quickly disappearing behind the landscape. Other witnesses in the area reported a sudden explosion or a flash. The gendarmerie found no traces of a fall in the area. Although initially considered a UFO event, it was later concluded that it was likely a natural object entering the atmosphere.
The case was classified as "B" by the GEIPAN, indicating that it was not considered an unexplained phenomenon after analysis. However, the detailed description and multiple testimonies add interest to this isolated event. Although no physical evidence was found, the description of a luminous ball with a trail and sounds is common in meteorite or atmospheric phenomena. This case, like many others, shows how human perception can interpret natural events as extraordinary.
