At 1:30 AM on August 7, 1977, several witnesses in Saint-Bonnet-en-Champsaur (Hautes-Alpes) noticed a luminous point on a hilltop that grew into a large, intense orange triangle. Described also as cone-shaped, the object appeared to approach the observers, who fled by car. It vanished behind a line of trees. When they returned with others, nothing was visible. Gendarmes found no ground traces and received no further reports from the area.
