In August 1977, in the French town of Erstein, two witnesses reported observing an unidentified flying object. According to their testimony, the object appeared in the sky around 10:30 PM, bright and stationary. When observed through binoculars, the witnesses noticed spheres emitting yellow light at its base and a kind of flashing red light, similar to a rotating beacon. The object then moved slowly without making any noise before disappearing. The gendarmerie investigated the case following an article in the local press, although no additional witnesses were found.
