On October 8, 1977, a driver and passenger near Estang (Gers) saw a light fly over their car and appear to land by the road. They described a rounded object with two tubes spewing flames that lit up the sky. The investigation revealed — and the witnesses themselves acknowledged — that two gas-station flares, fanned by the wind, had been shooting flames high into the air. GEIPAN classified the case as A, with a confirmed terrestrial explanation.
