Dark mass with glowing porthole over the Cantal

Summary

On October 18, 1977, at 12:24 AM, a witness in Champs-sur-Tarentaine-Marchal (Cantal) watched a luminous point for four minutes as it approached in a wide curve, lost altitude, and stopped above a hill. He then made out a dark mass with a porthole emitting vivid blue and orange light. Ten seconds later the object vanished abruptly. Gendarmes investigated but found no other witnesses. GEIPAN classified the case as C.
