Summary

In late October 1977, several witnesses around Breteuil-sur-Iton in the Eure department reported a luminous phenomenon in the sky. Descriptions varied widely — a bright ball, a red light, a flickering or stationary white light. The gendarmerie learned of the reports through the media but could not obtain additional direct testimonies, and the air services at Evreux-Fauville base confirmed no aerial anomalies that day. A common astronomical phenomenon was suggested, yet the diversity of descriptions prevented a definitive conclusion.
