Summary

On 12 November 1977 two people in Châlons-sur-Marne watched an elongated luminous object. Initially stationary, it slowly ascended before abruptly vanishing into the clouds. The silent phenomenon lasted over twenty seconds, and no military exercises were recorded in the area that day. Investigators deemed a weather balloon illuminated by the setting sun the most likely explanation. GEIPAN classified the case as B — plausible but not definitively verified.
