Elongated white shape and red dot over Saint-Claude

Summary

On 7 December 1977 several people in Saint-Claude (Jura) witnessed a silent, elongated white shape moving from west to east. Along its path it shrank to a red dot that faded and disappeared. Gendarmes found no ground traces. One witness also mentioned seeing an orange ball in the sky on 4 December at 22:15. While the descriptions are consistent with an atmospheric entry, the lack of precise data prevents confirmation of that hypothesis.
