Around midnight on 17 December 1977, several members of a family in Carquefou (Loire-Atlantique) saw from their doorstep a yellow-orange ball racing across the sky from northeast to south, casting an intense glow that lit up the night for a few seconds. The speed and brightness caught every observer's attention. GEIPAN classified the case as B, pointing to a plausible explanation while not entirely ruling out an unusual origin.
