Summary

In January 1978, a group of witnesses driving along the D177 near Gordes (Vaucluse) saw several silent white and red lights moving in clusters in the wind's direction. The case was not reported until 2011, and GEIPAN classified it C for lack of conclusive data. Jupiter and Thai lanterns were considered, though lanterns were very rare in France at that time and their trajectory did not fully match weather conditions.

Some observations could not be attributed to conventional objects such as the Moon or vehicles. Despite the emotional confusion of the moment, the testimony shows partial consistency with known objects. The file remains open with no definitive conclusion.
