On March 1, 1978, two witnesses in a vehicle observed a luminous object in the sky over Saumur, in the Maine-et-Loire region. The object was moving slowly from south to north and remained visible for 7 to 8 minutes. They described it as long, bulky, and mainly red in color. No unusual sounds were reported during the observation. Due to the lack of additional testimonies or information, this case remains unexplained.
