Mysterious red light over New Caledonia

On May 5, 1978, three people in New Caledonia observed a red light slowly moving over an island. The light, initially heading south, suddenly changed direction toward the northwest. The phenomenon lasted more than four minutes and no sound was heard during the observation. A few days later, on May 12, the gendarmes also observed the same phenomenon, though only for one minute. Despite these sightings, no further details were gathered about the event, making it one of the most enigmatic cases in the GEIPAN archives.
