Oscillating luminous sphere over Côtes-d'Armor

Summary

Between 20:00 and 22:00 on 4 June 1978, several people in the Côtes-d'Armor region saw a luminous spherical object moving east to west with an oscillating motion. A darker mass was occasionally visible beneath it. The official report concluded it was most likely a weather sounding balloon brightly lit by the sun, consistent with frequent launches from the Rennes and Guipavas meteorological centres.
