Sighting of a luminous spherical object in Cotes-d'Armor

Summary

On June 4, 1978, between 8:00 PM and 10:00 PM, several people in the French region of Cotes-d'Armor observed a bright spherical object moving from east to west. The object appeared to oscillate as it traveled, and at times a darker mass was visible beneath it. Although the description might seem unusual, the official report suggests it was most likely a weather balloon sonde brightly illuminated by the sun. These balloons, along with the attached sondes, are frequently launched in the area by meteorological centers in Rennes and Guipavas. The natural explanation aligns with the testimonies and the observed behavior of the object in the sky.
