In June 1978, a motorist and passenger in Tavaux spotted a luminous point about five kilometres away. Later, around 21:15, they saw an orange disc rising slowly and disappearing into the clouds, leaving a visible trail. A local newspaper published their account, prompting another person to come forward with a similar sighting—circular, yellow-orange—between 21:30 and 21:45 on the same day. Although both observations matched in date and location, insufficient precise data prevented a conclusive explanation.
