On August 31, 1979, several people in Montpellier spotted three lights in the sky. An orange light appeared first, visible for about fifteen minutes, followed by two silver lights that moved quickly before vanishing. The witnesses drove outside the city and around 23:00 saw the lights again, observing them through binoculars for an hour. The phenomenon disappeared completely by 00:30.
