On October 6, 1978, two witnesses in the Ain region observed a pink light for 15 minutes moving slowly at about 7 to 8 meters above the ground. The phenomenon made no noise and vanished before the gendarmes could arrive. No further sightings were reported, and investigators suggest it could have been a thermal atmospheric turbulence. The location between woods and farmland, combined with the low position of the moon in its first quarter, supports this explanation.
The case was classified as "B," indicating no unexplained phenomenon after analysis. Despite the clear description from the witnesses, the lack of physical evidence and the environment suggest a natural cause. Cases like this, while intriguing, are common in UFO research and often have meteorological or optical explanations.
