On October 13, 1978, around 20:00, two witnesses in the Grand Est region spotted an elongated object with colored lights. One of them reported a similar sighting five days later between 19:00 and 20:00. No anomalies were detected at the regional satellite detection center, nor was unusual activity reported at Barberey-Saint-Sulpice aerodrome. Investigators concluded it was most likely a conventional aircraft, though without absolute certainty. GEIPAN classified the case as B.
