On November 15, 1978, between 14:30 and 15:30, several people in New Caledonia observed a bright object moving from southwest to northeast. According to witnesses, the object might have fallen into the lagoon, though the exact location of the impact was not specified. Divers sent by the local newspaper searched for the object without success. The sighting was recorded by the GEIPAN, which classified the case as B, indicating no conventional explanations were found. Despite the search, the object was neither recovered nor identified.
