Between 14:30 and 15:30 on November 15, 1978, several people in New Caledonia spotted a luminous object moving from southwest to northeast. Some witnesses believed it may have fallen into a lake, though the exact location was never established. Divers sent by a local newspaper searched the area without success. GEIPAN recorded the sighting and classified it as B, with no conventional explanation found. The object was never recovered or identified.
