🇫🇷 GEIPAN / CNES
In the early hours of January 2, 1979, two witnesses in Mauléon-Licharre (Pyrénées-Atlantiques) observed a red luminous object moving silently from north to south at low altitude. The phenomenon lasted less than ten seconds. Both agreed on the description: something resembling a comet or a kite, fast and noiseless. GEIPAN classified the case as C. The brevity of the sighting and the lack of other witnesses or additional evidence limited the investigation.
