In January 1979, in the French town of Douarnenez, three witnesses reported unusual aerial phenomena in the same area. On January 24th, between 7 and 7:15 AM, one observer described an orange cigar-shaped object moving slowly from north to south. Suddenly, the object ascended vertically and disappeared at high speed, changing color in the process. No military naval-air maneuvers were reported at that time of year, making it difficult to identify the phenomenon. A few days later, on January 28th, at 22:15, two more people observed regular blue and white lights with a red point for one of them. The gendarmerie concluded that the lights came from the signal lights on the masts of a German cargo ship anchored in a bay, explaining this second observation. Despite these clues, the case remains intriguing due to the variety of testimonies and the lack of a clear explanation for the first event.
