Two sightings stood out during the winter of 1979 in Drôme. On January 25 at around 10 p.m., a motorist and a passenger realized their car was being illuminated from above. They stopped and saw a triangular object just five meters away emitting orange-red lights along with two beams aimed at the ground. It moved slowly with a hissing sound before vanishing behind a hill. On February 10 the same witness heard a deep rumble from his apartment and spotted a two-part object with white and red lights heading north to south. Over the town it was joined by a string of bright bodies that emitted lights for half an hour, yet no other witnesses came forward.
