In April 1979, two witnesses in Courthezon (Vaucluse) spotted three flickering white and red lights arranged in a triangle. One of the lights rapidly descended toward the ground, appearing to come from a flattened circular object roughly two meters across. The intense glow prevented the witnesses from telling whether the object had landed or was hovering. After several minutes, both felt a stinging sensation in their eyes and left the scene frightened. Gendarmerie investigators found no physical traces and no additional testimonies, leaving the case unresolved.
