Summary

In the early hours of 25 May 1979, two on-duty police officers in Lyon saw four white-yellow oval lights moving at low altitude. The lights passed overhead and receded toward the southeast, accompanied by a faint humming sound. The officers could not determine whether they were seeing one object or several. No equipment interference was noted. Given the proximity of airports and the characteristics described, investigators considered a conventional aircraft on approach the most likely explanation.
